M28 Motorway Nears Completion: Major Progress on Ringaskiddy Link! 🚗

Great news for commuters heading south! The M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy Motorway Scheme is really moving along, with works 'nearing completion'. This massive 11km road project will connect the N40 directly to our vital pharmaceutical hub in Ringaskiddy, aiming to finally ease the pressure on the often-congested N28.

Cork County Council has given us a peek behind the curtain with a fantastic new website featuring construction updates, maps, and even 3D visualisations of key junctions like Rochestown and Shannonpark – so you can see exactly what's coming! They've also shared that footpath and cycleway works on the east side of the R613 in Barnahely are almost done, meaning pedestrians and cyclists will soon have a safer space.

Once finished, the motorway is expected to slash vehicle numbers through Shanbally and Ringaskiddy by over 60%, promising cleaner, quieter villages and much safer local roads. (Read More)

Cork to Reclaim Ireland’s Tallest Building Title 🏗️

Cork's getting a serious upgrade, and the Railyard development is leading the charge! This ambitious project is set to make our city the proud owner of Ireland's tallest residential building once more, standing at a staggering 85.5 metres.

The 25-storey tower, along with adjacent 13 and nine-storey blocks, will add 217 much-needed homes by 2027. The recent completion of the central core, a monumental 10-day continuous concrete pour involving thousands of cubic metres of concrete and hundreds of tonnes of steel, really shows the scale of this project.

Designed by renowned architects, the Railyard also pays homage to Cork's history by renovating historic buildings like Carey House. (Read More)

Met Éireann Issues Weather Alert for Stormy Easter Weekend ⛈️

Met Éireann has issued a nationwide weather advisory for the Easter weekend, warning of potentially turbulent conditions from Friday, April 3rd, onwards. We're looking at a mix of wet and windy weather, with Saturday looking particularly blustery and possibly stormy, bringing severe or damaging gusts.

There's also a significant risk of coastal flooding, especially along the Atlantic coast, due to high spring tides coinciding with a storm surge and strong onshore winds. Formal warnings are expected as the system develops, so keep an eye on Met Éireann's updates before you head out! (Read More)
