Trinity Bridge & Union Quay Boardwalk: Summer Closures Begin Monday 🚷
Get ready for some changes around Union Quay and Trinity Bridge! Starting Monday, April 27th, major works will commence on the Morrison's Island Public Realm and Flood Defence Scheme. Trinity Bridge will be closed to pedestrians until late summer, redirecting foot traffic to Parliament or Parnell Bridges. Vehicular access on Union Quay will also be affected, with a section closed to traffic and diversions via South Terrace.
The project involves repairs to bridge piers, bridge widening, and the installation of new timber decking, alongside the construction of a new riverside boardwalk on Union Quay. This project is designed to boost pedestrian access and create a more beautiful waterfront space for everyone to enjoy. (Read More)

Mercy Hospital Tightens Visitor Policy Amid Infection Concerns 🏥
Due to infection control concerns, Mercy University Hospital in the city has temporarily closed its doors to general visitors. The hospital stated the closure was due to “infection prevention and control reasons” and will be reviewed in 48 hours. Visits for compassionate reasons can still be arranged directly with ward managers. (Read More)

Cork City has launched its first-ever Local Safety Plan (2026–2029) and is calling on residents to share their input! Glasheen Area Gets Water Network Upgrade 💧
Good news for Cork City residents in the Glasheen area! Works have begun in the area to replace around 750 metres of old cast iron water mains on Magazine Road, St Clare’s Avenue, and Highfield West. Uisce Éireann states this project will enhance reliability and water quality, reducing disruptions caused by leaks and bursts.
