All Aboard! New Train Stations for Blackpool & Dunkettle Going to Planning 🚂
Cork's rail network is getting a serious upgrade! Iarnród Éireann is preparing to lodge planning applications for two new train stations: one in Blackpool and another at Dunkettle. These are the initial phase of the Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme, designed to bring frequent rail services to more communities.
The proposed Blackpool station, situated near the original Blackpool Station, will connect to the Mallow line, offering increased train frequency and modern amenities like accessible platforms, parking, EV charging, and secure bike storage. Dunkettle station, positioned near the busy interchange, will serve as a park-and-ride facility for the Cobh and Midleton lines, promising frequent services.
Construction could kick off in 2027, with completion targeted for 2029. (Read More)

Killeagh’s historic May Sunday Festival returns from 1st to 4th May with four days of free events celebrating creativity, community and nature.
