Big news on the Cork Luas front! The latest report from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) shows a tidal wave of public support for the Cork Luas project. Of the 1,003 submissions received, fewer than 2% opposed the project, while the rest either supported it or wanted it expanded even further.

The current proposed route runs from Ballincollig to Mahon, but many are pushing to see it extended to places like Douglas, Carrigaline, Rochestown, and Cork Airport - with plenty also asking for a northern line to Glanmire or Blackpool. Some people raised concerns about cost or disruption.

TII will now review all this feedback before publishing its Preferred Route in early 2026. For now, it’s one step closer to turning this long talked about dream into a very real tramline. (Read more)

The countdown is on, Cork - the Jazz Weekend is nearly here!

The Metropole Hotel has just dropped its full line-up for the October bank holiday - and it’s a cracker! Expect all the favourites like The Swing Bandits, The Swing Cats, and Le Hot Club Quintet, plus new faces including New Brass Kings, Chapuiques Brass Band, and Grooveline.

There’ll be live music all weekend long, from free afternoon gigs in The Met Bar (starting 1:30pm daily) to late-night sessions in the newly revamped Jazz Festival Club upstairs. You can even book a special dining package for a four-course meal with your evening ticket.

Lislee Lavender Farm, tucked away on the beautiful Seven Heads peninsula near Courtmacsherry, is hosting its Pumpkin & Harvest Experience next Sunday, October 19th. Picture it: you, the sea breeze, and a field full of pumpkins ready to be picked for Halloween.

Each ticket includes your very own pumpkin plus a gorgeous harvest bundle of dried lavender and freshly picked Irish fruits - perfect for baking, decorating, or just filling your house with that cosy autumn smell.

With two time slots (12pm and 2pm) and tickets starting from €9, it sounds like a lovely way to soak up the season with family or friends. Tickets are on sale now on Eventbrite if you’re interested in going.

For everyone who loves a stroll along the Marina Promenade (and a Cortado coffee halfway), you’ll be glad to hear that new public toilets are being installed next week near Cortado Café. No more mid-walk dashes back to the car! (Read more)

Big news for music fans, Cork! The Lumineers have just announced a huge summer show right here in the city - they’ll be playing Virgin Media Park on June 25th, 2026. Fresh off their sold-out Dublin gig, the folk-rock favourites behind Ho Hey and Ophelia are bringing their Automatic Tour to Leeside - and it’s set to be one of the biggest gigs of next summer.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 10th at 9 am via Ticketmaster. Prices start at €59.90. (Read more)
